For critically ill newborns, Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital offers a 16-bed Level IIb neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), providing technology, expertise and timely care, and it is comforting to know that a neonatologist, an obstetrician and anesthesiologist are in-house 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. New parents can rest assured that we are prepared to meet all of their newborn's needs with the latest technology and a highly-skilled, around-the-clock professional medical staff. Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital's NICU is staffed with specialists devoted to the care of infants and their families.

The NICU at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is proud to celebrate 15 years of service to families in our community, giving more babies the care they need closer to home. Our NICU physicians and nurses care for some of the most critically ill newborns in an intensive care setting, offering the only Level III-A neonatal intensive care in Rutherford County.

- Treat nearly 300 critically ill babies a year
- Provide care for infants born at more than 28 weeks gestation and weighing more than 1,000 grams
- Have more than 200 combined years of experience treating fragile newborns
