Gestational Diabetes Medication Initiation and Management
In many instances diet and exercise alone is not enough to control blood sugar during pregnancy. Occasionally there is a need to add insulin or medication. If insulin or medication is needed, your physician will determine which treatment is preferred, and a diabetes clinician will provide instruction for initiating your treatment plan. A review of information regarding symptoms and treatment of hypoglycemia is a key component of the insulin or medication initiation, as well the need to report your glucoses to the Diabetes Center twice weekly for insulin or medication management.
