Practice Coordinator, Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital Bariatric Services

Assists and educates patients and potential patients through the process to have bariatric surgery, and continues to follow patients post-operatively. This includes pre-op classes, support groups, and arranging activities to help patients continue and maintain weight loss and program compliance.

Experience: Registered Nurse for more than 8 years, with years of emergency room nursing and management experience.

Catherine is not only the Practice Coordinator but a Bariatric patient as well, she can assist you with your medical concerns as well as what it is to be a patient.

AMANDA W. MYERS, PhD, LMFT

Dr. Myers leads support groups and offers individual, couple, and family therapy to bariatric patients who need assistance before and after surgery.  Additionally, group therapy intensives are offered twice a year for patients who would like to work through their freedom from obesity alongside other like-minded people.  Group therapy is a commitment for 8 weeks and involves homework in between sessions. 

Dr. Myers is also available to help patients who are in the process of qualifying for bariatric surgery, but are required to have individual psychotherapy per their psychiatric evaluation.  Psychiatric evaluations are an important component of surgery readiness and can give great treatment planning clues for WLS success.
