Mission and Values
Service Of The Poor – Generosity of spirit, especially for persons most in need
We cultivate generosity of spirit for persons in need. In the spirit and tradition of Saints Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marrilac, founders of the Daughters of Charity, we seek to grow in thoughtfulness, warmth, humility, selflessness and understanding. We acknowledge that God is served in a special way in the person of those who are poor in body, mind and spirit. We make a preferential commitment to those who are poor, vulnerable and marginalized in our society We seek to identify the poverty within each of us so that we can be open to the gifts brought to us by the poor.
Reverence – Respect and compassion for the dignity and diversity of life
We respect the dignity and diversity of all human life. We believe that all persons are created in the image of God, and that every phase of life is sacred, deserving unconditional reverence and respect. We recognize that value is not created by what one contributes, but because one exists. We strive to be truly present to each other, to listen to the words and sentiments of each other, to value the wisdom in each other, to honor and elicit the gifts in each other, and to resolve conflict in a way that promotes the good of all. We celebrate and find personal and collective enrichment in the diversity of our community.
Integrity – Inspiring trust through personal leadership
We seek to engender trust through ethical, transparent, accountable individual and collective behavior. Our communication will be honest, forthright and courageous. We will endeavor to maintain consonance between what we say and what we do. We will enter into commitments intentionally and with regard to the common good. We cultivate a sense of humility and an atmosphere that encourages learning and improvement.
Wisdom – Integrating excellence and stewardship
We will endeavor to use the best technology and the most relevant data in guiding our clinical and business decisions so that the highest standards of quality, safety and patient experience can be consistently delivered. We will accomplish this through a judicious utilization of the limited resources entrusted to our care.
Creativity – Courageous innovation
We will be courageous in embracing change and being active participants in the unfolding of the future. We encourage innovation and maintain an environment that lifts our visions to higher sights, raises our performance to higher standards, and builds our personalities beyond their normal limitations. We will cultivate an atmosphere of discomfort with the status quo.
Dedication – Affirming the hope and joy of our ministry
Inspired by the contributions of those who have gone before us, and acknowledging the sacredness of the work with which we have been entrusted, we affirm the honor, awe and joy of our ministry. We commit ourselves to be fully engaged with our work, with each other and with our community. We look to the future with hope and expectancy and persistently push forward toward a more just and verdant society.
As an integrated ministry, we will help people lead healthier lives, transforming the healthcare experience through trusted personal relationships and holistic, reverent care.
