Dr. Jimmy Carter came to Murfreesboro in 1991 at which time he began his surgical practice at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. He went to medical school at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Carter did his internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa and then went back to Texas and did his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock.
Dr. Carter has held numerous positions in his medical career such as being on the Board of Directors at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic; Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Medical Staff at Middle Tennessee Medical Center; American College of Surgeons Committee on Applicants; TMA Board of Trustees and many others.
Dr. Carter and his wife, Nancy, both grew up in Texas but have made Tennessee the place they and their four children call home. With the children all grown and on their own, Dr. Carter and Nancy enjoy cycling, spending quite times together and traveling when possible.
