Dr Rusznak graduated from medical school in Hungary in 1985, with the highest honor. He completed pulmonary and cardiology training in Hungary, then moved to the United Kingdom in 1991 to continue his academic career. In London he was engaged in research, teaching and patient care at the Academic Center of St Bartholomew's Hospital. He extensively researched the role of air pollutants and the airway epithelium in allergic and non-allergic airway diseases. He obtained his PhD in Medicine in 1994, PhD in Science in 1999, and his Doctor of Science degree in 2001. He has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 9 chapters in books, and over 100 other publications. For a year from July 1998, he was the Medical and Scientific Director of the British Allergy Foundation. In July 1999 he moved to the US and joined the Department of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University, where he completed both his residency in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology, and where he now holds a faculty position. Dr. Rusznak is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
