Dr. McGehee joined TOA in 2007 after completing a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction under Dr. Richard Hawkins at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. After graduating from Vanderbilt Medical School in 2001, he completed a general surgery internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.
Although he specializes in treating sports injuries and shoulder problems. Dr. McGehee works also in shoulder replacement, including reverse total shoulder. He enjoys seeing all types of orthopaedic problems. He has provided physician coverage for teams at all levels, ranging from high school football to professional baseball. He is presently Team Physician for Franklin High School.
A native Tennessean, Dr. McGehee grew up in Nashville and was valedictorian of his high school class at Montgomery Bell Academy. Attending Vanderbilt University as a recipient of the Harold Stirling Vanderbilt Scholarship, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Fine Arts.
