Dr. Bachstein obtained his undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from Auburn University and started working on a Masters Degree in Mathematics before switching his interests to Medicine. He attended the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with an Armed Forces Health Professional Scholarship and after graduating with his medical degree entered into a Family Practice Residency Program at Carroway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
After his first year of residency, the United States Navy called him to active duty as a General Medical Officer at the Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station. From there he was sent with the United States Marines to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Once he returned from the Gulf, he entered the Family Practice Residency Program at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
Once graduating from his residency program, he returned to the Marines and was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina in support of his Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. After ending his tour of duty there, he moved with his family to the Lebanon/Mt. Juliet area in 1995 and has been practicing Family Medicine in the area ever since.
