A Message from Karen Springer
At Saint Thomas Health, advocacy and improving the health and well-being of our communities is the work of our founders, Saint Vincent and Saint Louise. We continue the tradition of spiritually-centered holistic care and work tirelessly to improve the health and well-being and to eliminate inequities in health and health outcomes.
Our integrated health ministry provides high quality, efficient, effective care within our walls. However, knowing that health and well-being are not only impacted by the healthcare we receive, we follow the work of our Founders and go into the community to seek the vulnerable, advocate, provide healthcare, and connect them with needed resources. We work within all communities, alongside other non-profit, public and private agencies so all residents of the region have the opportunity for health and health care.
Our Community Benefit and Health Improvement programs are dedicated to addressing the identified needs and improving health outcomes.
The Dispensary of Hope program is a charitable medication distributor. This award-winning program connects community assets to community needs by supplying medications that would otherwise go unused to thousands of patients in need throughout the country. In FY15, because of this program, participating charitable pharmacies throughout the US filled over 245,000 prescriptions for over 96,000 patients. This is one example of our Saint Thomas Health mission in action.
I am grateful for the contributions of our associates and community partners in improving the health and well-being of our communities. We are humbled and honored to carry on the work of Saints Vincent and Louise and the Daughters of Charity. With God’s help, Nothing Shall Be Impossible.
